How does Veg’Up Nutrition work?
What does the Tracking page allow you to do?
The Tracking page is the heart of Veg’Up Nutrition. Every day, you can monitor all your nutrients: macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, fats), minerals (calcium, iron, magnesium, iodine, selenium…) and vitamins.
You immediately see whether your intake is sufficient compared to your personalized goals.
What is the Veg’Up Score?
The Veg’Up Score is a personalized indicator we created for you. You choose the nutrients you want to highlight (Profile > My favorites). By default, nutrients with a higher risk of deficiency in a plant-based diet are selected.
Every day, the app calculates the average of these favorite nutrient gauges to give you a clear and simple score. This allows you to focus on what matters most to you: protein, iron, omega-3, calcium, etc.
How do I add a food or a recipe?
From the Tracking page or the Add page, click the “+” button. Frequently used foods will then appear quickly on the home page for easier access.
When you start typing the name of a food, the app automatically searches for it in the library adapted to your dietary pattern.
If the food is not found, you can create it in three ways: by scanning its barcode, by manually entering its nutritional values, or by creating a custom recipe.
Can I see the exact details of a nutrient?
Yes. By clicking on a nutrient in the Tracking page, you access:
– the precise details of your intake for this nutrient
– explanations about its role
– food ideas to increase your intake
This helps you understand, not just measure.
Why is the fat detail so advanced?
Veg’Up Nutrition is the first application to detail fats at this level. By clicking on “See more”, you access:
– saturated fatty acids
– monounsaturated fatty acids
– polyunsaturated fatty acids
Polyunsaturated fats are further detailed, which is one of Veg’Up’s key strengths:
– Omega-3 ALA
– Omega-3 EPA and DHA
– Omega-6
You can even visualize your Omega-3 / Omega-6 ratio, an indicator rarely available in standard applications.
What is the “By nutrient” section of the Tracking page for?
This section gives you the history of your intake for each nutrient.
At a glance, you can see:
– whether you are regularly below your targets
– whether you are improving
– whether a nutrient is often deficient
It is a valuable tool to identify trends that are invisible on a daily basis.
Can I save my data?
Since all data is stored on your phone (we have no information about you — everything stays on your device!), we created an import/export feature for your data. If you change phones, you will not lose your history.
The Backup / Restore section of the Profile page allows you, for a selected week, to download:
– all foods consumed
– all your nutrient data
Can I export my daily data?
Yes, and this is particularly useful if you are being monitored by a nutritionist, dietitian, or doctor.
You can send a full report in one click: Tracking page, Export tab.
How can I customize my nutritional needs?
In the Profile page, under “My needs”, you can modify all your targets.
For example, increase your protein goal, adjust your iron needs during pregnancy, or increase calcium intake in case of osteoporosis.
All targets can be manually modified to adapt to your personal situation.
How do I manage my supplements?
The “Supplements” section allows you to record your intake, including vitamin B12 (essential in a vegan diet).
You can choose different frequencies: every day, every other day, once per week, or occasionally.
Depending on the option chosen:
– the dose can be automatically distributed
– counted entirely on a specific day
– or activated manually according to your actual intake
Supplements appear in your daily journal and can be modified at any time.
What is the food library?
You can browse, modify, or create foods and recipes.
What is the barcode scanner used for?
This feature allows you to check whether a product is vegan or vegetarian.
You can then add it to your library and integrate it into your daily routine!
How do I create a custom recipe?
You are cooking a lentil dahl and want to save it in the app? Nothing could be simpler! You have two ways to create a custom recipe:
1. In More > Create a custom recipe
2. In Add food > “Create it”
By entering the ingredients of a recipe, the application automatically calculates the total nutritional intake of that recipe.
How do I know which food contains which nutrient?
You can browse the foods richest in each nutrient to easily optimize your diet in More > Nutrient info.
You can choose whether you want foods ranked by percentage content or by portion.
Who is Veg’Up Nutrition for?
Veg’Up Nutrition is designed for vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians in transition, plant-based athletes, or anyone wishing to optimize their plant-based nutrient intake.
Unlike general nutrition apps, Veg’Up Nutrition takes into account the specific characteristics of plant-based diets, including omega-3, amino acids, and critical nutrients.
